Since my parents arrived in Melbourne, there wasn't a single day that I've experienced hunger at all, and everyday is just full full full <_<;''''...

Plus Chinese New Year... more food food food and more full full full.

It's soo bad... I think I've put on much weight, and it's not good....

But tmrw my parents is going back, which means back to dieting again :D! Wohhooo! No interuption whatsoever lalalalala. I'm also gonna do evening walks at the athlete's track near Ruffy Lake's Park every 8 p.m and/or 7 a.m. It's time to cross off one of my New Year's Resolution that has been sitting on every single one of my previous New Year's resolution list! KAPOW!

Ontop of that, I've decided to put animation aside for awhile, and focus on Objective C coding for iPhone app development. I've even got a "Mac" for it! Gonna start enrolling onto online courses and stuffs. There's this 3 day intensive course in Melbourne, charging 1250 dollars.... thou I'm not sure if it's legit, there's 0 applicants so far <_<'''.... I think I'll stick to good ol book and video tutes for now. Hopefully iPhone app development will aid my long cursed career.

I STILL HAVEN'T GIVEN UP DRAWING YET! NO WAY AM I EVER! :D!

I might have gotten a job thou... It's from my uncle's friend who works in a computer parts distributor company. Although I feel like I need this job to earn some "survival" funds, but then... it's going to be a full time employment, and I wish I could spend more of my time learning coding and drawing. The position that I'll be working in is "marketting". I've got absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to do at that position, but at least I'm getting some training for it before working :D. Oh well, this calls for super-duper-time-management-and-organizing-mode! I hope I'll be able to organize my time to balance work and coding/drawing, unlike my previous "job".... oh gawd...

Apparently it's an animation piece "Made in China".
Being "Made in China", I kinda expected the animation piece to probably be a clone of another animation piece did in Japan..

Thou I'll give credits for their concept in trying to bring kids's imagination come to life, and went as for to making 3D models to look exactly like the kids chosen as the models. But this shouldn't be the way to do it.... this is like copying someone else's homework, and all you had to do is write your name on it...

But I'm glad there's still some signs of talent in China that doesn't involve "copying" other people's work:

Pretty sleek animation. Though the unclean lines (probably the art style) makes the animation a bit messy, but it's nicely done.

I really hope to see more animation pieces made by China that doesn't involve copying, but through originality. Cuz with 1/3rd of the world's population belonging to them, there has to be at least 0.01% of them with awesome talents to make animations like the one I mentioned above!

Nichijou

Recently, I've finished watching Nichijou, an anime that revolves around the everyday lives of ordinary school girls/guys/robot/professor/cat hahahaha. Thou there are many MANY random stuffs happening in it, and lots of events are being exaggerated to the max, but I guess that's what made Nichijou soo awesome to watch :D.

But aside from the awesome animation, it also reminded me of the time when i used to be a high schooler. I'm a sucker when it comes to reminiscing the past, I love to think back and talk about the past, cuz it brings back joyful memories and sometimes I wish I could live back in the past. But we all know that is impossible ^^''...

It also taught me a few important lessons of life. One of them would be "You are who you are, isn't that right?" To not look at your bad qualities and bring out your good qualities to live life. I will leave out the reason as to why this meant something to me, but yeah, it taught me a very good lesson too :).

I'd really recommend anyone to watch Nichijou, particularly it's because it has no storyline to it, only random events and doesn't require much thinking. It's great to watch after a stressful day at work, or uni. Or whenever life gets you down or something, for every episode brings laughter and joy, the key ingredients to stress relieve or emotional breakdowns.

I haven't had much laughter watching an anime ever since Azumanga Daioh. So thank you very much Nichijou! Thank you very much Kyoto Animation xD!

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome 2012! The year where we will meet our "ends" hahahaha!

Anyways, it's been a very short 2011. Maybe because of overworking for 7 months that made me feel like 7 months of my life was missing from 2011. But anyways, it's been great fun, I will never forget that awesome/treacherous working experience.

Sooo here comes my New Year resolution :)

1. Lose Weight (20-30kg)
2. Get a job (fulltime or Part time)
3. Pay off Mazda3 car full to ship it to Aus (maybe impossible hahaha)
4. Cut down gaming by 90% (kill off all addictions)
5. Become a pro artist
6. Finish off Gundam model fully painted!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Hope everyone's enjoying their holidays/break/unemployment period xD!

I didn't quite enjoy mine thou.... it ended up with a disaster.
I had a wet carpet situation at the master bedroom cuz the balcony door wasn't closed properly. And the person to be blamed for would be the Property agent who brought a family to inspect my home on Wednesday.

The door wasn't shut properly, so water leaked in... luckily today was the only rainy day, the past few days had been hot hot hot X___x''...

Since it's christmas, I'll forgive that property agent... thou it made me kinda mad cuz

hahahahahaha. Yes I'm kinda racist to my kind, but I've been hearing lots of stories about how Mainland chinese people are doing their businesses. So long as cash is rolling in, they do not give a shit about occupational health and safety, or the customer's satisfactory. Some are even scandalous like many cases in Malaysia where a call from Sheng Zhen would tell you that your daughter/son/grandmother etc.. has been kidnapped, and they want you to bank in this amount of money for their release. But infact, they're just safe and fine. Think of it as a prank.

Anyways, enough about that. So... wet carpet. I'm glad that I dedicate every Sunday to house cleaning day, or else I wouldn't even notice that leak there, and mould could start growing and make the house hazardous to live in <_<'''...

One of the drying methods I used was using Kleenex paper towels. I'm sure most of ya must've seen the ads for it, it's absorbent power is miraculous, and I kid you not, it helped me a LOT! But now that leaves me worrying about the smell and any other wetness in the carpet cuz the paper towel has it's limits.... although I think it absorbed 90% of the water, which is GREAT!

I ran out of my home immediately to go looking for dehumidifiers (to trap the moisture) and carpet shampoo/deodourant, but every shop in town was closed cuz it's Christmas! Doh OTL.... >__<''' I hope my carpet can last till tomorrow without overpowering the smell.... fckin Property agent... can't even close a door, how fail is that?!?!?!?!

Anyways, so that's how I spend my christmas :D. Cleaning the house and fcking around with a wet carpet ha ha ha. Hope all goes well soon.

Midnight In Paris

Lately, I've been endulging myself with countless amount of movies, almost everyday I watch at least 2 movies. It's really weird that all the sudden I have this addiction of watching movies.

But out of all the movie that I've watched so far, one movie that I love to keep on repeat would be "Midnight In Paris".

It's a story about a book writer who is about to get married to his fiancée in Paris, but as he began walking around Paris by himself at night, he goes into a time travel back to the centuries when his favorite novel writers and artists are still alive. As he began socializing with them, he began realizing that maybe his marriage is a bad idea.

Sorry, I'm very bad at summarizing stuffs, and it's not going to be anyone's cup of tea. But to me, it's a really nice and easy movie to digest. I like how the movie portrays some history about artists such as Pablo Picasso and Dali, and a very odd love story going on in it. hahahahahaha

Ahhhh.... I really can't describe it <_<''' OTL.... talk about creating animations huh? I remember my lessons about story development when I was working, we had to summarize a movie without giving out the ending or any spoilers, but enough to keep a listener interested and wanting to watch the movie.

But I'd highly recommend this movie to people who deals with the creative industry such as drawing, I'm sure you guys will like it :D!

It's calling me, the crave, the needs, the addiction

Long have I been addicted to gaming.
And I swear it's not nice to be addicted to something, you have this craving feeling, the feeling of needing it. As humans love to have that feeling of satisfaction, no matter what it is they do.

Lately I've been craving for some good MMO, and many times have I nearly clicked that "Download Client" button to start downloading the game and hope to play it. But then all the sudden, I turn away from it and regain conscious to what I am suppose to be doing instead of gaming.

It sorta reminds me about Lord of The Rings, where The Ring turns everyone to see it as their precious. Yes I've been watching Lord of The Rings lately hahahaha, the extended version as well D:... It's very longggggg..... thus the word "extended" eh :D?

There isn't much going on lately, drawing, gardening, going out.... I really need a job ^^'''... but it ain't easy getting one here :(.... mmmmm or am I not trying hard enough? Whatever it is, hopefully this unemployment status will be gone soon. For now, I might turn towards Centerlink money for help. Sorry tax payers :(....

Re-focus

It has been a really weird ride lately. But it felt like I was slowly going back to my old self again. Wasting my life infront of a computer playing minecraft, and job hunting... Yes I do still practice my gesture drawings, but it wasn't as intense as before where I would draw 4-6 pages a day, it's now down to 1 page a day....

Until my mentor left me a note on my wall (Facebook hahaha). He said:

Jordan-Tan Kok Siung, please get famous one day so I can sell your sketchbook that you left with me for big money.

I did leave him my sketch book that he told all of his students to fill it with gesture drawings. Infact, out of his entire working career life and classes that he teaches in the studio, I was the first person to finish a sketch book and hand it in to him....

It reminded me when I was completely enthusiastic about learning the secrets to become a better artist/animator. I believed in his guidance, and I believed that regardless of talents or skills, practice is what makes perfection. Well... of course it has to be a perfect practice, cuz if you mindlessly practice something without understanding the basics of it, then you're just a machine doing it's job.

When I read that quote, it completely knock me back on track on what I'm supposed to be doing. Yes I tend to go off track and completely forgot what I'm suppose to be doing, most likely due to games brain washing me from my plans, and I still suspect that I have ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder, short attention/focus span on something, or maybe it's just not my interest at all...

Well, whatever it is, I feel like I'm back on track again.

Very bad sleep-ins

It's my 2nd day waking up at 12.30 p.m....
It's not really a good thing for me, I aim to wake up at 8 or 9 a.m everyday, cuz it felt like I have more time to do things..... I wonder what happened to that waking practice that I did in Malaysia while I was still working (sleeping at 3 a.m can still make me wake up at 6.30 a.m in the morning hahahaha).....

But yeah, I hope this act doesn't happen too often... infact, I hope it'll never happen at all from today onwards. It reminds me of the time when I used to be a useless fag doing nothing but waking up late and playing games all day.... dayummm <_<'''

My current porfolio progress is not in a good shape, nothing has been done, and all I've been doing is drawing practices. Nothing for my portfolio. Which means I can't really apply for jobs yet <__<'''... Maybe I could with my old portfolio, but it's a chemistry to disaster if I do so. I hope to get something up and running soon!

As for drawing, I finally felt a slight improvement over the human anatomy, although it's probably like a small tiny tiny improvement, but heyy it's better than nothing :D! Gonna keep doing those gesture drawings xD!

NEET for 1 month

It's nearly my first month of being a NEET.
NEET stands for "Not in Education, Employment, or Training".

Maybe we can take away the "Training" part ^^''... been working my ass off practicing gesture drawings. But I seem to be going no where with that...., I feel a slight improvement in the understanding of drawing the anatomy, but I'm far from being able to create a proper human posture from scratch.... There's still so much to learn.

As for my portfolio.... I doubt I can even finish it in 2 months.... I'm still trying to find that "style". But taking into consideration that Australian animation companies DO NOT like anime, I can't really add anime works into my portfolio... or they'll instantly reject me.

Last Monday, I spoke to the founder of Keyframe Cops, Matt Walsh.
He gave me a lot of useful advice for conquering the multimedia and animation industry in Australia:

1. Always put your best works in your portfolio
2. Set up a website so that employers can look at it instead of just your portfolio.
3. Be unique, create something that no one has ever seen before, make it priceless.
4. Do not put obscene or offending images in your portfolio (In my case, half naked women hahaha!)
5. Create a simple showreel, a short animation clip that emphasizes on the 12 principles of animation.
6. Less is more, only if the works are outstanding.

Yeap, it was really nice of him to give me advices as well. At first it was meant to be a discussion about what I did during my previous job experience. But oh well, THANKS MATT :D!

I really hope I can pull this, I'm starting to think that I have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) cuz it's taking too long for me to pump out a portfolio.... and I love getting distracted by little things such as fiddling with the last tissue paper to try and maximise the usage of it, or cleaning my table countless times cuz of little smudges on the glass.

I'm a minecraft fan, and the article is quite spot on about how a person dives into the world of Minecraft hahahahaha. But I can't seem to get pass that "Age of Obsession" part, where I would build something as crazy as the Enterprise.

Maybe cuz I'm not creative enough, or I'm just lazy to create something THAT big. But still the amount of time I've wasted in playing Minecraft... STILL can't beat the time when I played Mabinogi HAHAHAHAHAHA! Epic isn't it, how poisonous Mabinogi was to me and Winston. Jason Chan Park Land

I would like to dedicate this post to one of (probably the only one) the best mentor I've ever worked with in my life.

Thank you so much for everything Jason! You've taught me so much, and gave me a clearer path to walk on. I don't think there's anyone else in this world who would inspire me as much as you have. Your words of wisdoms are more than just gold to me, it's a new spark to my life. I knew I wasn't going to regret making that choice of coming back to Malaysia for work! It's sad that not many people appreciated what you have told them, instead, like you said, they would find excuses to disregard your words so that they can feel right.

I can't imagine what I'd be doing now if I hadn't worked in Malaysia. Probably just wasting my life searching for jobs or working in a stupid restaurant as a waiter or something..... Now that I know what I should be doing, I'll keep on doing it till I reach that pen-ultimate goal of mine! It's still "To Open an animation company and be as successful as Ghibli studios", but for now, I will be aiming for "To be a 'real' artist"!

It's also sad that Malaysia doesn't have much future for an animator, there's no other places to expand other than outside of Malaysia (due to the ridiculously low salary). But I really do hope you find a better job than your current one, you deserve way better!

So thank you, thank you, and THANK YOU Jason! It has been a real honor working along side with you. I will always remember you not just as the greatest mentor in my life, but also as a great friend xD! I look forward to our next meeting sometime in the future.

Game Over, Continue...?

Today's my last day of work. It's really sad.... I really hate "Good bye-s", I really do, it's probably one of the most easiest way to break a tear from my eye, and it's really hard to hold it back.... I will miss all my friends (colleagues). We had a great 7 months together, and I will never forget that awesome fun and hillarious moments with you guys. If it wasn't for them, I'd probably would've resigned much more earlier hahahahahaha!

So... this is it... Game Over... Continue?...
No thanks for now, I've played enough... I think I'll head back and practice somemore first before playing again. Although my parents STILL do not approve in me having 1 month of peace and harmony just to work on my portfolio, they're still on that perspective that the Art and Design industry is like the corporate world, where resume and CVs are the ones that gets you the job.

I believe a portfolio is more than our CVs. But I understand the my parents have about me being a lazy ass, sleeping all day and doing nothing productive. Infact, I too fear of being like that myself... I still feel that old habit of mine within me.... But I hope what I've chosen to do for the next step of my future will be inspiring and motivating. Enough for me to go on till the day I die.... And if all fails within 1 year of not achieving anything, I have promised my parents that I will go into Engineering. It's what they'd hope I'll get into the first place...

"Helping" others with their work

One thing that I won't miss from work is "Helping others with their part".

It's a really big issue when it comes to team work. If one doesn't do their part properly or fast enough, they will become a burden to the team. I can understand if they've only just began their journey as a layout artist, but those who have been working for a long time, and hasn't shown any improvement, those are the kind of people that really ticks you off.

I don't mind helping others, but helping that same person constantly is something that I DO mind. Today I had to help another one of my team mates with his retakes (aka fixes), and he should've been at a level where basic mistakes shouldn't exist anymore in his scenes, but nooo... it's still there.... and now I have to stay back late again when i could've gone home ON TIME (not early... early means to go home before 6 p.m).

My company does have a system to repay those who have helped other people and doing extra work. But this system is VERY dodgy.... Firstly, it's called incentives, not bonuses. Incentives are paid at THE END of a project. wait, I'm not finished yet.... AFter the end of the project, it takes 1 FCKING YEAR to calculate the incentives.... like hell...

So what happens if you leave the company before the project ends? Or During the calculation process... You get NONE! =____='''....

Secondly, you have to hit an average amount of work points (our incentives are based on points, where each scene are given an amount of points, total it up and average it out) to be qualified for the incentives, if you can't make it, you get ABSOLUTELY none....

So taking my first point and second point, doesn't that mean less to no money at all for workers who stayed till the very end, and more money for the company to fck around with? Ahhh.... working life in an Asian country, cheap ass asians with their scamming schemes to scam off the dreams of young animators.....

Oh well, I'm glad, VERY FCKING GLAD that I'm leaving soon... although it's going to be very sad to leave my fellow team mates behind, but like one of my senior told me," You can't sympathize us for leaving, or you'll never leave this company, do what you have to do, cuz it's your life." There's just 1 week left to go!

I hope it'll be a memorable one and not a horrifying one ^^''...
But the more I think about whether it was the right decision to do, the more I feel like it is the right thing to do. After all, it's the management's fault for not taking care of their staff workers properly. Treating us as machine is wrong, and even machines needs to be turned off for a break. Or they'll overheat and explode.

Anyways, I hope whatever job I'll get in the future, won't be as horrible as my first job, aka my current one hahahahaha!

Leadership (Part 2)

This weekend (yes I'm working on BOTH weekends this week) will be the last 2 days of being a leader... well... that's if my current episode finishes in time..

What I've learned so far about being a leader is that, you must be prepared to handle HEAPS of responsibility. I under-estimated the amount of responsibilities that needs to be taken care off as a leader, and now my shoulders are as stiff as a rock HAHAHAHAHA! Yess big stress level >__<''... But hey, on the bright side of it, at least I've got to experienced what it's like to be a leader :). fufu.

But anyways, being a leader is more than just managing your team members, you have to be a role model to them, motivate them, and guide your members to meet the deadlines. And I'm lacking of those things.... I can't seem to motivate my team members knowing that I once used to discuss about how impossible the project deadline is, but I guess it's something I have to learn to deal with in the future (If I ever do become a leader again).

Not only do you feel bad for not working over-time with your workers due to personal reasons, you have to face the boss everytime a project deadline is not met.... and facing the boss is very scary... If you try and be funny, as in speaking out what you think is right, he might rage at you and start shooting bullets >__<''....

I think in the future, I might consider being a senior first instead of a leader. And when the time is right, I will accept the role as a leader ^^'''.... it's too soon for me now, I have much to learn. Oh, I'm also a trainer for the layout department, so I have to train newbies (fresh meat heh heh) on how to work with the software and the working system in our office. The newbies would mostly see me as a senior staff who probably worked for 3 - 4 years, but I love to see their reactions whenever the truth is being revealed to them, that I've only been working for less than 7 months hahahahaha!

Well... that's all for now, time to go to work and donate blood T___T'''. The term "donating blood" isn't what you think it is. I'm donating blood to my office meaning there are heaps of stupid mosquitoes (they're huge too...) flying around and sucking blood... har har har. Just 2 more weeks >__<'' I can do this!!!!

The Face Off

Today I had to meet my boss to pass him the resignation letter and explain why I have to leave.

I swear, it was like going for an interview, except it's an interview about resigning and not working. ha ha ha. The moment I stepped into that conference room, my boss spammed me with the question "Why did you give me such a surprise while I was travelling?".

He was travelling in France I suppose when I sent out that email, and I'm pretty sure he was job hunting and NOT travelling hahahaha. But anyways, I hope he didn't have a hard time travelling while thinking about my resignation ^^'''....

And so, I explained to him the reason for my resignation. The reason was because my parents didn't think it'd be safe for me to stay alone in Malaysia, since they'll be moving to Shanghai, so yeah..... what an odd excuse eh? But it is true... I don't think I can survive in Malaysia like that, especially with this type of working hours. I'll be like a robot, switch me on to work, switch me off to sleep. And the lack of sleep puts me at risk of having car accidents since I tend to doze off on the wheel ^^''.... Luckily I'm still alive now... and hopefully I can last for another 3 weeks.....

Sadly, I messed up my discussion a little... when he asked if it's because of the work load, I kinda hinted that it was ^^'''.... and thus the reason why he didn't quite believe that my parents ARE really moving to Shanghai.... Especially since he said to me "Well, I hope what you've told me is really true..."

It was quite sad discussing about my resignation. He said that I was giving up too fast since I kinda hinted that it was because of the workload. I think I am..... there's still much for me to learn from this company, and I haven't even AT LEAST finish 1 cartoon T___T'''... But I think it's better if I resign and plan my future and burying myself with loads of workload and no time to think about it.. I'm planning on entering the 3D realm. It's going to be tough thou... especially since I do not have any 2D animation principles or foundation. Guess there's lots for me to learn ^^''....

But I must say, I know how my boss must've felt. "I've given you an opportunity, a job, I've trained you to become professional, and now you're leaving me." Being a boss must be a tough job..... but I think if he had treated his workers properly, I wouldn't mind staying longer. Not in terms of getting easier jobs and having less workload, but more on equality like all staffs should be given OT, Super Funds (EPF) and flexi hours.

Speaking of nodding, I was listening to Lonely Shooting Star on repeat while working on Monday and Tuesday. By repeat, I mean non stop till I drove home for sleep lol! It felt like a Nyan-cat song, but with much more cute and soothing lyrics instead of "Nyan nyan nyan"! Oh how I miss playing Katamari... I wonder why the PS3 version of Katamari didn't click me at all.... was it because of the flimsy control setup o__O????

Resignation

Today I sent my resignation letter to my boss.
It was a hard thing to do, knowing that he has given me many opportunities to work with, and I'll definitly be missing the friendly community that made me live through these hard times at work..... but I feel that this is not the way I want to work, practically a lifeless, mindless zombie with other lifeless mindless zombies doing layouts with less than 5 hours sleep everyday (It reduces as the work increases).

I know I'm yet to learn much from my current company, and I'll definitly be missing all those valuable knowledge that my mentor loves to splurge out at midnight. But I guess it's also possible to learn through self-experience, i.e Freelancing. Still what I've learnt from my 6 months of work is probably equivalent to what I've learnt through my 4 years of uni. It's simply amazing to see how much one can learn from just 6 months of #(@%%@#)%*) work hahahaha, but I have my mentor to thank for, he is the one who inspired me, lead me, and changed me to think differently about the animation industry.

Sadly.... I think I've kinda corrupted the company lol.... I splurged out my resignation status too soon, and it's going to crumble the production line, cuz they too are thinking about leaving, but is still unsure about their path.... So for the next 30 days, it's going to be another piece of Hell to endure. I have been working mindlessly for the past 3 weeks from 7 - 11 p.m, and including weekends from 9a.m - 9 p.m.... I'd say it's far worse than SEAL Team's mental training course... You'd have to have a very high will power to get through it, and sadly, I don't :(.....

But anyways, it's time to plan my future :). This is going to be exciting xD! That's if I make it through my last 30 days....

Oh, I watched Inception the 5th time today, on BD as well :). It's really nice, and the 5th time watching it made the whole story crystal clear to me ^0^. Yes I know... I'm very slow at picking up things..... .___.''''

Indecisive moments

It has been tossing around my head, about what I really want in life, and how I'm going to achieve that. Everytime when I had a talk to someone, I locked in that I wanna make the change now, but the next day, an event would happen where it would counter me back to where I started again, which is being indecisive.

It's really hard to make these decisions.... Especially when you're someone who is soo open to anything that you can listen to. The reason for this behaviour is because in my thoughts, I kept thinking that I'm still yet to learn about a lot of things, therefore I'm always open to opinions and comments. But it's a really bad habit to do so, cuz it's really frustrating when you can't make up your mind hahahahaha.

For example, after a long discussion with my parents about what I feel like doing, (i.e leaving my current company to continue studying from a proper animation institute or get a job back in Melbourne and part time studying) it made me feel like "Yes, this is what I really want to do, I'm going to do it! I'm quitting my company next month!".

However, coincidentally, I had a team meeting with all the leaders today, we were discussing about how we're lacking of people, deadlines are tight, and we're looking for solutions to solve our current crisis. Which brought up guilt-tripping topics like "staff leaving whenever we finished training them" or "lack of experienced people in Malaysia". These topics have poisoned the decision that I made previously from the discussion with my parents.. and now I'm back to thinking whether it's the right thing to be quitting or not....

There's actually A LOT of factors that are being considered to make this decision. At the moment, with this leadership thingy and being the 2nd technician to Toon Boom Harmony in my studio, makes it really hard to leave the company cuz of all that responsibility things, but as I continue on with this company, I feel as if I'm being burried in cement, starting from the bottom of my feet to the top. Eventually I'll be trapped in this company forever working as their slave.

Which I think is the case for my department leader.... He's been working there for nearly 7 years now, and his life is just as horrible as a fresh grad starting their job there. The company pays peanuts, and doesn't have a very fair system of treating their workers.... But I'm really glad that I stayed back tonight.

It's funny that my department leader only speaks about personal stuffs or his future after 12 a.m ish, or when there's like nearly no one else but us left. It's sorta like a bonus stage in a game where you've gone through all these extras to unlock a special bonus stage. But I'm really really glad I stayed back. He was mentoring me on how I can become a better animator, discussing about games/ animations (mainly the techniques used). It's soo inspiring, that it made me feel that if leaving soon might be a bad choice, cuz I don't think there's any other mentors that will be as good as him.

He told me about his plans, he wanted to further study on 3D character animation, but due to financial problems, he couldn't :(..... Which made me feel bad if I were to leave him just like that, knowing that it could affect his workload and lifestyle even worse. I really want him to succeed, I know he has more potential than i do, but it's just that he's bounded so tightly to my current studio, thus having no time for himself.... And seeing him work like that everyday is very depressing.

But today, he told me that he spoke to his mom about further studying, and his mom agreed to it under one condition, that he must make time for himself for this course. Hearing that enlightened me a lot. He's finally got the choice to further study after working for 7 years in a sweatshop. That he can achieve his goal and dream. All that matters now is, when will he be resigning to start this course. Or how will he make time while working. But at least he now has another path to pick rather than boring 2D all day long.

I'm sorry, i could go on forever with this, however I have to sleep now cuz it's 1.44 a.m and I have to get up for work soon :(... Perhaps I'll continue this entry some other time when I'm free :). Thanks for reading ^^!

Self-esteem

One of my own personal weakness, is to say NO... to reject, self-esteem.
Yes, I'm lashing out one of my biggest weakness to the world, so please don't use this to your advantage >__<'' especially guilt-tripping (Thanks May n Bec for teaching me that word :)).

But I believe, by telling the world about it, I'll grow to become more self-tolerant into changing myself. I came across an article that I thought might help me, and thus these are the things that I have to plant inside my head:

Go with the flow. Screw workers rights and stuffs, just work like a robot.

It's not really helping out much thinking about it, not much action is taken and speaking out would sometimes end up backfiring. And sometimes I think, I'm at fault for bringing these stuffs up. I came from a country where human rights issues are serious, and I'm currently working in a country where human rights doesn't seem to exist at all...

I should really work without thinking too much about it. Although it's not a really good thing for my colleagues, they seem to be suffering much worse financial problems. But these thoughts about human rights is affecting my team's progress really badly. I wish I hadn't told them the words that my department leader told me... I don't think they are ready to hear what I was told.

One word that came to me when I told my colleagues about them was the word "brain-washed". The way they responded back to me, as if I'm brainwashed by the company/leader. It does seem so... I'm still young and new to the industry, therefore I tend to accept given words by anyone with a higher status in the studio than me. But that doesn't mean I do not have my own opinions =___=''....

Oh, the person that said I was brain-washed, is actually the same person that I mentioned before, the one who thinks he's always right. I tend to stay away from him these days, he's quite a negative person to be around. Not very good for motivation too. But instead demotivates people very professionally. HAHAHAHAHA

ANYWAYS, that's all for my working life, now onto something awesome :D

People who thinks they are right

If there's one type of person that annoys me the most, it's the type of person who always thinks they are right. No matter what the situation is, what the winning losing rate is, these people always finds excuses to make their statements correct.

I think there's a word for these type of people.... dick-holes right? LOL! Ignorant perhaps? But whatever it is, yeah... it really ticks me off <___<'''....

Like for example today, my work colleague asked me a question about something that he doesn't understand, so I explained to him a few methods on how he can tackle it, but he keeps insisting that all my methods doesn't work, and that the error is something fatal or somakumlaoshit like that. When he says that my methods doesn't work, you can tell that he's thinking "Oh shit, how come I never thought of that... geez I'm such a dumbass, but I'm smarter than this dip shit, I gotta find an excuse to prove him wrong".

But when I proved it to him that the methods that I mentioned works, he went silent for awhile, thinking "Oh shit, he proved it to me.... can't make myself look like a fool, I'm better than this dickhole" and he changes the topic to another error that doesn't exist at all in the problem <__<''....

There are times where you HAVE to lose.

Further Studies?? In Canada :O?!!?! gasp

Recently I've been thinking about it, as well as discussing with my parents on whether I should further study or not. It's weird to see that my parents are at 110% with me going to further study. But to me, yes I would like to further study, the only thing I fear is if the institute that I choose will give me the same stuffs as what I've been through for the past 4 years.

By giving me the same stuff, I don't mean same softwares or skillsets. What I meant was teaching us the basic shallow stuffs, and not preparing us for the real industry that lies ahead of us. Just like Monash. I don't despise Monash or anything (please ignore my previous blog entries about them LOLOL) they did provide me with knowledge and skillsets, but it wasn't enough for me to conquer the industry, or perhaps I wasn't trying hard enough?

Whatever the reasons are, I think most universities/institutes are like that anyways, they are more profit driven than willing to provide education and a better future for their students.

Anyways, I've been thinking about taking my animation studies further to Vancouver Film School. I heard it's one of the best and my parents would love to return to where they first met and fell in love (HAHAHAHAHAHA). I'd like to take the 3D animation and Visual Effects program, a 1 year intensive course that is said to be an equal to 4 years in any other institute. I popped them an email asking for the tuition fees, and they called me back.

I swear, the numbers... it's fcking ridiculous...
It's like buying 3 new cars in Australia. Or an apartment in Malaysia lOl, wherever you guys are reading this :P. A whooping $53250 Canadian Dollars. And maybe a $15000 Canadian Dollars for living expenses/accomodation. My goodness..... Knowing the price for this expensive investment, I knew I had to do lots of research before deciding. And I can't stress out how expensive this program is!!! For 1 year!!!!... It made my shit turn white <__<'''

So I did my research, and I came across this review:

So yeah... VFS... definitly a risky investment, to think that their tution fees back in 2007 used to be 30K, now it's lik a whooping 50K.... I can clear off my car loan with that... plus a 1 year free road toll lol, and an unlimited supply of Roti Canai/Masala Tosei/Nasi Lemak 3 meals a day everyday! hehehehe. I'll definitly have to reconsider it.... besides, I have 1 year + to decide anyways :P, since I want to finish my current project before thinking ahead xD.

Being a leader is hard X___X

I've been a team leader for almost a week now. And I must say, this shit is hard lol!

Even thou you get to assign yourself less scenes to work on, but it's not because I'm lazy, it's because I have other things to take care off such as helping team members solve their problems, chasing progresses, emailing clients to clarify on stuffs, and the worst of all, I have to work on very hard scenes :(. It's intense, and I couldn't even enjoy some music while working, I had to pay attention to my team members and eavesdrop a lot cuz sometimes my team members are kinda shy to ask when they are in doubt, so I had to take the initiative or else they'll be stuck there forever <_<''

But I was trying to figure out how the heck did me and my x-team members manage to finish 1 chapter within 2 weeks. And then it hit me, the way it worked was, my team leader distributed harder scenes to all the team members while he focuses on the easier ones. Once he's done, he helped the others take down their scenes too. In a way, I think it's very effective. But the bad thing is, you're not giving the newbies a chance to learn.

To be honest, I'd rather things to be that way. Firstly is because, none of my team members are fresh meats, they started off the same time as I did.... well, except for 1 of them who came in a little later, and another who got transfered from the animation department. But if they can't tackle simple scenes fast enough, then there's definitly something wrong there, and it's holding the production line back...

Another reason is because, I feel that if hard scenes were to be pushed onto someone less experienced, it would trigger them, HOPEFULLY, trigger them to seek guidance or assistance, which I really wish my team members will do more often instead of burrowing in their own fox hole.

But of all these tactics. The thing that can bring down the production line is if one of the team member doesn't like the leader, and doesn't give a shit about daily quotas or other team members. For those who are done with their part, they are to step in and help any remaining team members with their scenes, that way it speeds up the process, but sometimes there are team members who take advantage of this "help" thing and would rather slow down and relax, knowing that someone else will pick up their scenes. If all team members were like that, then nothing will be finished <__<'''

I really REALLY hope none of my team members are like that... although I have worked with them on previous episodes as teammates instead of being their leader, I didn't quite get to know their performance... so I'm taking this current episode to understand more about their level of performance.....

Short naps are REALLY powerful o__O... Yoinks!

I've always thought that short naps were kinda pointless, you rest up a bit and you get back to work, it's like recharging a battery for your cellphone, or your laptop, if you let it charge a little, it will only give you a few minutes to spare. But for the past month or so, I've come to realize that.... short naps ARE indeed badass!

I've had lots of troubles trying to stay awake at work, I've tried washing my face, walking around and stretching, and also coffee. But none of them seem to work as well as a 30 minute short nap before working hours and during lunch hours. Of course you wouldn't want to take a short nap during working hours, so you'll have to resort to before working hours (which is before 9a.m for me) and lunch hours (1p.m).

So to those of you who tend to doze off during working hours, I suggest you to try this method, take a short 10-30 minutes nap before working hours or lunch time. It really helps! Unless, you wanted to doze off and you love sleeping at work hahahaha~

Checking emails with Public Wi-Fi

I'm sure most of you guys who own a smart phone or a laptop uses public wi-fi or a free wi-fi spot to check your emails or any other private related accounts.

Well, same here. I love checking my emails on the go. But I will never EVER use another public wi-fi spot again. Like NEVER till the end of my life!

Today I was checking my email with a public wi-fi using my iphone. Although it's kinda odd that my phone connected itself to a network that I'm pretty sure I've never used that network line before. So anyways, I checked, read some of my emails, and then closed it and continued on strolling around the shopping center.

About an hour later, I tried checking again, but this time instead of receiving emails or a message saying "no new emails", I got a message saying "You email account password is incorrect". It was strange, and I thought it was just something to do with the connection thing. So I ignored it and continued strolling.

When I got back home and tried to check my email, I was prompt to verify my account due to some malicious activity. As soon as I verified my account, I quickly checked my "Sent Mail" folder to see if someone has been using it or not. Apparently someone has used it. They sent out a spam mail with a link that probably directs people to a spyware site or some shit... Luckily it wasn't my entire contact database they sent out too <__<''' it was just uhh... I think 10 people... but I sent those 10 victims another email warning them not to open it. Hopefully they'll read that first :(.

So yeah, a warning to you guys, connecting to a public wi-fi means putting your personal information at risk of being stolen or mis-used. Becareful with where you connect :).

For those curious about where this "odd" wi-fi spot is. It's at E-Curve (or known as The Curve) shopping mall. And the network name is called "Streamyx Hot Zone" or some shit like that. Oh, the shopping mall is in Malaysia :).

Leadership?

There was a team meeting today, and it was regarding our current project, what will be coming up next, and some other technical stuffs about layouts that our leader loves to remind us.

But after the meeting, I was called to stay back in the conference room with 2 of my other seniors team leader.

To give you guys an idea of the hierarchy in my department, there is the Head Leader, who is incharge or checking all the scenes before sending it for rendering and delivering it to the client, think of him as the top of the chart, but for my department only (which is the layout team).

Then there are the team leaders. Cuz my department is being split into 2 teams, and each team has it's own leader, in charge of distributing scenes according to skill level to each member in that particular team.

So anyways, I was told to stay back with my 2 other team leaders. And the reason for this is because, starting October, our department team will have to be split up into 3 teams, due to a schedule misunderstanding with the client. And my department leader, wants me to be the 3rd team leader. It's still unconfirmed yet since I'm still under probation, and also my leader is still unsure whether I can take the pressure or not since I'm still new, but yeah.... I'm really happy and quite honored to be chosen as a leader.

However... I'm not sure if I'm ready to take a very big responsibility... and I've seen how my leaders work and I've always wished that I'll never become like them. And it seems like it's not working at all... I'm going to become one of them soon <__<''' hahahaha.

Not only that, one of my current team leader will be leaving us for her further studies, which means we have to find yet another team leader, but there aren't any suitable candidates within the layout team at the moment. It's kinda sad, seniors leaving and with all of us under probation workers, it's very hard to pick a team leader. Oh well....

But when the time comes for me to leave as well, I hope I can be brave enough to hand in that resignation letter hahahaha. I really want a better job, therefore I'm aiming for 3D at the moment too. But I'm just afraid that what if 3D isn't what I thought it would be as well :S...?! Argh..... Perhaps I should think about leaving after I've gain 2 years of experience or something ^^''... eh heh heh heh.

Anyways, on the brighter side of things, tomorrow is the weekend, and this time, no work, and no worries :D! Cuz we've just finished an episode today, and the next one starts next monday xD. So this weekend is going to be awesome, no need to worry about OT-ing on weekends. Not only that, there's still 2 more weeks till that big holiday I'm looking forward too :D! wohooo!! !!!!!!

Wohooo it's Sunday, and I didn't go to work today xD. All thanks to "Let me finish downloading these music first". Originally I was suppose to go to work today, cuz I fear I might not be able to meet the deadline, but before going to work, I was busy downloading and looking for some new awesome music to download (and old ones too). And I keep telling myself "Just finish this download, dump it into your ipod, and gtf to work"...

But the download was slow, so it kept delaying my departuring time until the point where "It's pointless going now, you're just gonna go in for less than 4 hours and go home" And so I stayed at home :D!

Or cuz of the lack of motivation my tutor gave us..... oh well, time to pick up the fallen pieces again, and hopefully by the end of this course, I would have a new and better career than my current one. Not that I hate my current job, I enjoy working with 2D and this new "cut out animation technique thingy"

It's just that... I feel like I'm less of an artist and more of a technical person. And with 3D being more technical, it makes me wanna give it a try and maybe it'll show me a better "way".

Well, wish me luck ^^! If all fails.... I'll be stuck in Malaysia for a long time :(....

So waddya think? Shud I wait out 4 months to save up and buy? Or buy it now and solve my debt later? Another option is to NOT buy.... but I don't like to see that option :(....

Rushing deadlines and going to classes (not official classes, it's more like office training at night lol).

You know... after last week, I learned that it is very important to build a strong team relationship when it comes to animation. If you plan to just go home early and leave the rest of your work for others to deal with when deadline is almost up, you're letting the team down real bad :(.... It's like going to war, your team members are busy shooting down the enemies and risking their lives while you sit back at the bunker and watch them die.... until a nuke hits you, fired by the boss ahhaahhaa, get it? lame jjoke huh ^^''? anywayss....

We managed to finish the first episode's layout yesterday, but we were actually meant to deliver it last friday :S.... so yeah, it was one hell of a stressful week but glad it's over now, and there's 51 episodes to go hahahaha... so more stressful weeks are yet to come.

I kinda miss reminiscing Internet memes with people that gets it, it's soo entertaining. People here don't quite get the whole internet meme thing.... so far I only know of 1 person in my studio that knows about it. Which is cool, but sometimes he gets carried away and starts blabbering things that I haven't got a clue about.

Dragon Ball Z`

Lately I've been watching Dragon Ball Z.
Oh how much old memories does it bring back. I remember reading the entire manga when I was still a lil kid. The only Dragon Ball I haven't read about is Dragon Ball GT.... But anyways.

The thing about Dragon Ball anime is that, it has 9 seasons :S..... That's 291 episodes to dash thru :S.... and since I'm working, the only time I can watch it is weekend or if I do come back from work early. With each episode's duration to be 20 minutes, it'll probably take me half a year to finish it hahahaha.

But thanks to "fast forward" I'm now covering Dragon Ball Z's episodes 4x than normal speed xDDD. wewwww~ and watching in 4x speed actually feels like the proper animation duration, cuz the current duration and timing of Dragon Ball feels very very slow :S....

Oh well, back to the show :D

I think I'm slowly loving my job. Although there are still times where I was in doubt whether animation is still my passion, but yeah, I'm starting to like it a lot now, till the point that over time doesn't feel like torture anymore.

There are days where I do feel like going home but I can't cuz I have to finish my tasks. hahaha.... And there are times where your workload/difficulty bites you so much that you feel like rage quitting, but you can't or you'll get fired... But hey, whenever there's positive, there's negative right? To keep the equation balanced :)

I wonder how many posts have I made in regards to my job life... sorry about that guys ^^''... it is a personal blog after all, I write my experiences in here, to share with other people who are yet to decide their career path. But I also like to share my life experiences with other people, so that when they do experience the same thing as I did, they can be prepared for it (I'm not quite sure how to explain my idea, but that's as close as I can say). ^^''

May 18th Updates

There isn't much to be said lately, except that I've been working a lot. So thus the reason why I don't update my blog much ^^''... I remember I wanted to rant about Malaysian's stupidity and ignorance, but I just can't be stuffed, there's so much to rant about and everyday when I get back from work, I feel tired and need my sleep.

During Tuesdays to Thursdays, I have extra classes that the studio provides us. It is a nice thing to do, but usually it's right after work, giving me no time at all to eat dinner, when class is done, all I could think of is going home, and when I reach home, I am usually allowed oatmeal cuz eating after 9 is unhealthy, hardcore eh? Gonna be expecting skinny polar bear the next time you guys meet me.

But apart from all that suffering, I DO enjoy my classes. It's fun to just lash out your creativity without any borders or limits. Cuz when working, we're being limited to what our client provides, we have to follow model sheets to draw, so it's like copying another person's style, but giving that character different angles. Not really my cup of tea, I find it difficult copying mainly cuz it's somewhat similar to the anime style, but it's not as well, and ever since 2009 ish, I started moving towards the "realistic" type of look... oh well, it's still fun thou, especially since we're allowed to watch movie while working (well I don't really watch it, I just listen to the sound to keep me awake, not even trance music can keep me awake from work now <_<'''').

I really can't wait till 1 year is over to see how much improvements I've made, although... I am kinda lazy at home... and I'm meant to be doing drawings and countless amounts of drawings, but when you start working, you'll understand why being at home means being lazy :P.

Okay then, that's all for today ^^. 1.3 weeks to go till payday! wohhoo~

Sony Online Entertainment

Recently, Sony's Online Entertainment database got hacked into and personal information were stolen. Not only that, credit card details that are linked to the PSN account are also at risk of being stolen. The reason why I say "at risk" is because out of all the news that I've read, they've all reported that there is no proof or trace that credit card details are being stolen.

I think that's kinda bull crap.... certainly there are some that has been stolen. Sony might just be trying to cover it up, no offense Sony >_<''...

But since then, Sony has taken down all their Playstation online services. Rendering the PS3 to be only an offline console. Like.. fck you hackers... I love playing Marvel VS Capcom 3 online with other people around the world, but now that you've hacked into Sony and forced them to shut down their online services, I can't play it no more >:(... thanks for that. I hope you'll die for your crimes >:(!

Anyways... on the brighter side of the day. I've won a free Momo-hime PVC from E2046's monthly lucky draw. LOL! Hell it's about time I won something from them. Not only that, it happened during my birthday :D! (which was yesterday) lucky lucky ^^! Thanks E2046!

Now back onto the darker side of life. Remember how I had a fever last week and had to apply for an Emergency leave from work? It made me lose RM186 from my salary :(!... Today I decided to was my mom's car.
So lalala, washing washing washing. It's funny how we have to lift up our windshield wipers when cleaning. But anyways, so I lifted up the right side wiper while standing at the right side of the car, and then before lifting the left wiper, 2 things came into my mind.

1. Remain on the right side and try to flick the left wiper up, that way you don't travel much.

2. Walk to the left side, and lift up the wiper properly.

I picked 1.... and the consequences for being a lazy bastard.... was a broken windshield :(!... It happened cuz when I flicked it the first time, it flung back and whammed onto the windshield. But I didn't notice any crack cuz of all the foam around the glass, the second time I tried flicking it, it whammed back and the wipers came off too! D:!!!!! So I decided to walk over and do it properly, and when I continue washing the windshields, I notice a big crack (around a 10inch area) on it :(.....

1st month of work~

Today marks the 1st month of work.
It's funny how 1 month flew just like that, and I'm beginning to feel like I've been working in that company for ages... but anyways.

So far, the experience is awesome. I'm learning heaps and I can feel myself improving, although my drawing methods seems to be changing drasticly, but it's going towards the positive direction. Hopefully after 1 year, I become godly with my drawing skills like my mentors xD! W00t.

I also got my first pay! Yay. time to burn some kaching xD. I promised my parents an awesome dinner, so will be doing that before the holiday ends. And I remember one of my aunty telling me to spend it all, cuz it's a tradition for first pay cheque or something... I'll definitly want to spend it all hahaha, but I gotta save some for food/parking/petrol/road tol for next month.... >_<'''

In terms of social life, it's slowly getting there. I was meant to go out with 2 of my work colleagues to watch Thor today, but I was down with a fever 2 days ago... and had to apply a half day leave and recover till I'm better... but there's always next week :). Remember how I was yapping about being Mr.Invisible in the office for the first few weeks? Well my super powers are slowly wearing off xD. I guess it does take time to get to know people, but they do come naturally, just keep smiling and greeting them politely, and most importantly, be nice :). So for those who just started work and are worried about their social life in the office, take my advice :), cuz I've just been thru it not long ago.

Mkay then... time for me to go back to resting mode... I'm still recovering from that nasty fever... but it's getting okay now... Maybe I'll hit the gym later to burn it all away xD! wew~

I'm ashamed at what I have done today.

I was looking through some scenes to help my colleagues do their retakes since they were busy with animating their given scenes. So I came across this particular scene.

I looked at the retake version that was done by one of my seniors, and it looked great. But when I turned on the layer which has the original drawing that the person did, my mind just went hysteric. Laughing at how funny the drawing looks like. I tried not to laugh out loud thou, so it was just a snicker and shrug shrug, but it lasted for so long.... haven't been laughing that long for a long time....

But it was a very silly behaviour of me.. I shouldn't be laughing at the picture.... I mean, I too am pretty crap at it..... I wasn't laughing at how crap the person was in drawing, I was laughing at how funny the picture looks... hmmm... but is that almost the same? If it is.... then I have done something terribly wrong... I'm very sorry for laughing at that picture... I promise it won't happen again.

Old Folks' conversations

Today I had to go out for dinner with some relatives and family friends, and most of them are oldies. Well.. not oldies as in they love old music, what I meant was people older than me. hahahaha. Anyways.

I can't help but notice the main topic of conversation around the table are usually health related topics, like pills, special grass, massages, exercises bla bla bla. It's funny, and I'm serious about this. If you're asian, and your dinner/lunch table are mainly old people, they tend to talk about these stuffs....

And the reason why they talk about these stuffs were actually given to me by my dad. It's because "they're afraid to die". Hahahahahaha.

I know all these supplements and exercises keeps you healthy and fit. But I don't quite believe they are the key to long living. I remember I met this old korean man on the plane during my trip back from Japan. He was telling me how he would screw the rules of what he can eat, and live his remaining life to the fullest, doing whatever he wants and whenever he wants. So long as he's happy, and that's all it matters.

That is what I was thinking when I was at the dinner table. The key to a healthy life is to live happy and have a positive aura around you. Having supplements and restrictions to what you can and cannot eat is like living under heavy rules. Screw the rules, rules are meant to be broken. So break it and live happy :). Life is short anyways, we may never know when we'll be "leaving" this world anyways, it could happen anytime, it could even happen after you finish reading this post (LOL! please don't get scared, it's just an example :D ).

So yeah, live your life to the fullest, and just be happy all the time. That's the way how life should be.

Lifestyle

After living the "working" life in Malaysia for nearly 2 weeks now. I realized... I've been living quite the lifestyle in Australia. Things here aren't as easy as it is compared to Australia. Like I said, even thou I do return to Malaysia once a year for the past xx years, I'm still not used to the lifestyle, particularly cuz going back to Malaysia means to go on a holiday, so it's like going for a tour, except you have a place to live and with transport. But now... I'm living the Malaysian life. It feels weird, and it makes me really want to go back to Australia.

But I have to constantly remind myself, this is the path that I've chosen, and there's no turning back. Like I always love to say, "No Pain no Gain". This time I have to apply it to myself hahaha.

I remember I was driving one of my friend back home, and my friend mentioned about how it's a nice thing for me to go back to M'sia for work, learn the "tougher" side of life, since I've been living in an equivalent to "heaven" or sorta in Australia hahaha. Yes, it is time for me to live thru the hard life. I can even feel my parents are slowly letting me go (apart from driving <__<'''). Yes it's a good thing, sooner or later I'll have to be detached LOL!

Well.... now you guys should know, if you've migrated to Australia and has a PR, stay there and work there! LOL! Or if you're an international person in Australia, stay there, work there, and apply for PR there xD!

1st week of work

Well, I've been working for a week now.

So far so good. It's better than I thought it would be.
We've halt all our practices and began production.
Although there isn't much scenes to be done, and most scenes are done by either 3 or 4 people, and the best will be chosen in the end, I'll still do my best! Cuz I wanna be picked xD.

But when I tried working on the scene... damn it's not easy.... there's only 1 keyframe for the character.... and I don't really know how that scene works.... <__<''' oh well, I should just experiment the movement a bit and use it as reference....

I'm slowly getting along with my workmates now... I think ^^'''
And I found myself a Marvel VS Capcom 3 challenger :D! W00t. Just can't find the time to relax and play <__<''' (My Saturday today got wasted from Travelling to another state in Malaysia to pick up my car number plate...)

Well... 1 week of work.... I'm sure things will be much better in the future, I can feel it... And stressload will be heavier too, I just know it xD. Cuz it's Malaysia, low pay with high workload. :(

And I must say, I was being a dick for complaining about how boring it is during the first 2 days.

Anyways, 4th day of work! Just 1 more day and it'll be my first week of work!

So far, I'm really enjoying it..... No seriously, I really am.
I know I like to be sarcastic, but this time I'm serious about it. I really AM enjoying it.

Although it's the same thing as yesterday, practicing on frame drawings and familiarizing myself with the characters, it's pretty cool how I'm getting the feedbacks and critics that I've always wanted. Although the critics are a little harsh, but I don't take it as something bad, I take it as something good. Cuz I need those critics to improve myself!

Through my team leader's critics, I realize how much I suck at animation hahahaha. And speaking to one of my workmates, she's been there for 10 months, but throughout that 10 months, she's gained a lot of knowledge and improvements.

My company also provides drawing classes every Thursday. We learn how to draw dynamic poses and to fix our bad drawing habits. Since we deal with frame by frame animations, it sure is the right thing for the company to do to improve their production rate, and again, I love the critics from the teacher :)!

Well, that's about it for today. I'll give an overall update tomorrow about my first week of work. For now. sleeppp <__<''' It's not cool sitting for 9 hours on a chair that covers only half your ass hahahaha (yes either the chair is too short, or my ass is big) xD.

Ever heard the saying "Third is a charm"?
Well I'd say it is lolz.

I was finally given work to do today. Although it's just practicing just like the other people working beside me, I'm happy to be doing similar things as others around me. We were told to animate a scene, and practice drawing the given characters. It's funny seeing everyone doing the same scene. But I kinda understand why, in order to create animations from a group of people, the group has to sync their style to match with others, that way the animation piece won't look weird in one section, and badass in the other.

One thing I'm struggling to do at work, is to socialize...

But then again, I really wanna socialize, I hate being Mr.Invisible...
I remember someone told me that "Friends will come naturally, just be polite and smile all the time."... well, I'll do my best. They seem like awesome people to socialize with. Especially the 'otaku' ones. But hey, if they're an 'otaku', but knows how to draw an animate, that makes em "badass" otakus :D! danggg xDDDD

It's the 2nd day of work today.
And I'm still yet to be given work instructions.

I've heard from quite a number of people, that the first week or 2 of your first job is always like that, they won't bother you till the end of the week or something. I wonder if it's a self-taught training thingy or something... It's strange cuz, you hire someone, and you expect them to work right? Yet you're throwing them there, and giving them free money for 2 weeks. Not to say I hate free money, I mean, free money DOH! You'd be a fool to not have some.

I'd go on ranting about how silly this whole "no work for 2 week thing" is, but I'll keep it to myself to avoid any unwanted/unforseen events that may occur (by that I mean, since this blog is open to everyone, "anyone" can read it, if you get what I mean).

But after today, I think I wouldn't mind not doing anything for 2 weeks. I'll just take this opportunity to fool around with an expensive software, or crack up my drawing skills, doing random funny doodles and sketches, or just day dream about climbing up to a high position and earning a good salary (I doubt that'd happen soon).

Anyways, I gotta sleep now... so tired from being bored today hahahaha. Had to skip gym too or I'll be looking at another 6 hour sleep (I think I'll be needing minimum 7.5 hour from now on... very different from uni life).

First day of work

Today was my first day of work.

I was soo nervous and somewhat excited, that instead of getting up at 6.30, I got up at 5 a.m =____=''' hahahahaha. Being all prepared with my smexly uncomfortable work uniform (Sorta formal, like a business man clothing) and my laptop bag (Not the backpack, it's like a suitcase thingo). I was ready for work.

So into the car we go (It's "we" cuz my mom will be driving me there, and way back will be me driving, so that I get a chance to familiarize myself with M'sian driving style), we tried turning on the engine but it just won't budge <__<''' FAIL FAIL FAIL... not only that, it's a Benz.... EPIC FAIL FAIL FAIL. And my dad kinda left the house 30 mins ago too... We had no choice thou, but to call my dad back and fetch me to work.

But that's not all, I had to endure a 1.5 hour Traffic Jam =___=''' just because of some silly light rain, which caused a major havoc on the traffic.... I blame this shit on the government for not caring about Malaysia's public transport system (i.e: Do you see any buses? And there are also 'invisible' bus stops). Some stupid KTM and LRT system, what a load of crap, you can't even carry my ass with 2 carriages. Thus the saying "In Malaysia, Car is more important than money. Even if you do have the money to afford a cab, do you trust Malaysian cabs, knowing that they're worse than professional race car drivers?" hahahaha.

So anyways, I got to work in time, 9 p.m start. Got my keycard, signed some forms, showed around the department, waved to people and introduction. And finally, bam, my work desk. To give you guys a visual on how it looks like, think of it as an internet cafe, or for our fellow design mates, our studio, a row of computers, back and front. But I like how people bring in their stuffs to decorate their table. Some brought Hatsune Miku figures, some brought Transformers. They were awesome.

But despite all these fascinations, my first day of work was ABSOLUTELY BORING! I was given a file with Toon Boom Software tutorial videos, and despite the fact that I find Toon Boom somewhat similar to Flash and would like to start work immediately, I wasn't given any work, instead, I was told to just do whatever. hahahaha. I made a walking dog, some jumping dood. And boy that 9 hours of work was quite an endurance test. I sure hope they'll give me some work tomorrow.... although I heard that everyone's first week or 2 of work will be boring as hell, reading materials and doing nothing.... =___='''

So anyways, there you have it, my first day of work.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the dress code... It turned out that it isn't those business man sorta dress code, it's a "wear whatever you want but no shorts plox" dress code. Yippie :D! Hurray for T-shirts and jeans!

Test drive havoc

Today my parents and I decided to make a booking for my new car.
But before buying a new car, one must test drive the beast to make sure it's tamable... To put it in simple words, to make sure it's the right car for them. So I went for a test drive.

I knew the Malaysian roads will be one of my greatest challenge that I'll have to overcome in the future. So being a little nervous with the sales lady, my dad and my uncle in the car, I made sure everything was comfortable, seat back right to a comfortable position, rear mirrors adjusted, air con to the right temperature and speed.

All was good and I was ready to go, upon trying to exit the show room to the main road. I started driving, stepping on the accelerator slowly as I exit to the main road. But suddenly, the car bounced up, and a loud scratch noise was heard. Hahaha.. At that moment, I shat a brick and thought to myself "fuck they're gonna force us to buy this car now..."

It was quite a bad scratch, but at least it's on the side bumper of the car, not the door. But there wasn't just a scratch, the bumper kinda went off position as well.... It was pretty bad I think, but from the sound of the sales lady, it's a common thing that happen during exiting to the main road cuz not many drivers are aware with the height of the sidewalk that causes the scratch. So anyways, driving was okay, nothing too panicky apart from driving with my mind thinking about that scratch. And at the end, we reached back to the show room in one piece. Ha ha ha....

And so it was confirmed, after a long 3 hour discussion about the pricing and loan things. We got the price that we wanted. And the car will be arriving within 2 weeks. It's an alluminium metallic color. I really wanted the red, but everyone kept saying red is for girls =_=.... Geez.... Then why the fck do we wear red during Chinese new year?!

But after awhile, when the deal has already been settled, it got me thinking that maybe I'm making the wrong decision to buy such nice car. I mean, yes I do have a drivers licence... Well an australian one that is, ive driven more than a year now. But the problem is, I'm not used to the Malaysian road, and I'm bound to have accidents or scratches... the test drive was already a good example on my unfamiliarity with the Malaysian roads, and on top of that, the car ain't cheap.... Making any accidents to this car wud be really heart breaking...

Maybe I should've just started off with a cheap Myvi or Toyota Vios, they're both half the price of what im buying now, and banging it around wouldn't bea big deal, we all learn from mistakes anyways. But banging around with the expensive car is.... Not good :( especially when your first car is a new pretty car....

So guys, when buying a new car, do consider the frequency of accidents that you might cause,the familiarity of the roads, and the most important, your salary ha ha ha. At the moment with this salary that I'm going, im going to have to eat my own doo doo to live :P

Mini update: Singapore customs

I'm in Singapore at the moment waiting for my kl flight.

Just thought I'd do a mini update on what happened at singapore's customs. Hehe.

I decided to bring my ps3 back to Malaysia. S that means I have to bring my games too.
I stacked em all into my luggage fufufu.
And then at the Singaporean customs, I got stopped at to check my bag, and they were curious about why my bag has zoo many CDs. As if I was doing some pirated cd sales or something. So after checking my luggage and a small discussion, I was allowed to go thru.

Now that's what call anti piracy. If you compare to Malaysia customs, you'll realize Malaysia doesn't even have one LOL!

So today, I got back from Malaysia to Melbourne for a pack up session.
It was really nice to be back on Melbourne soil. With e cold weather and the rainy days.

Until I realized, my uncle picked me up with my car.
That's okay, it's expected anyways. What's unexpected is finding his dog in my car =_=.

I mean, how many times have we told them no dogs in our car..... Cant gutsy at least use our car properly for once.
Last time they managed to suck the petrol dry and not refilling it.
This time, the petrol was fine, but the Etag(it's like a toll thing) wasn't. They sucked that dry as well... I hope it isn't overcharged...

Anyways, so I arrived home, tired and a little. Upset to whattheyve done to my car.
So I went straight to bed an slept till 1p.m today.

With the daylight and the curtains open, I could see my house brightly lit.
I could see.... Someone had a party in my house, and didn't bother doing a good cleaning job....
There were food bits on the ground, greasy table, and dishes not washed properly.
And I know who the culprit is.... Belongs to the daughter of my uncle who drove me home last night.

What a messed. Up family. Have they no respect to other people's belongings? I hope they're reading is cuz they bloody well should, I mean, you use our stuffs, please have the heart to at least put it back the way it should be, not sucking everything dry like a fucking freeloader and giving it back.... How would you feel If I did a same thing to your car, with a pig in it. And your house, trashing every single area of it....

I'm kinda glad to be back to melbourne to notice these things.... But now I feel it's better if I didn't know it at all... It's really mind fucking and enrages me to know, I'm related to these sort of selfish ruthless ignorant people....

Oh well, better go clean the fucking house now...

Yesterday I went to Animasia for an interview in regards to my 2D animator position application.

The interview went okay, I was given a 30 min test to draw a character of my own style in a background. But the reason for this test was because they wanted to see if I'm fit to be a background designer instead of an animator. I think they've already rejected my position as an animator the moment I handed in my application. But still they called me in for an interview, and offered me a different position =___='''

I had a feeling it was kinda a waste of time. They didn't ask me any questions at all, not even my residency status or background history. Nothing I tell ya. They look at my works, nod around, talk about what I've written in the application form (They said "He knows mandarine").... It felt more like they cbf hiring people or something.

Although they have all that smiley face and stuffs, all that matters to them is what you've written in that application sheet and no questions as to whether you'll be willing to learn or anything like that...

The animation leaders didn't even tell me why they rejected me, they had to tell the Background leader to tell me the reason... Reason was because my animation technique and skills might not be "suitable" for the position. I can kinda understand that, I like FramesAnimation, not much into tweening and shits like that.... but hey, at least ask if I'm capable at those things before rejecting me <__<'''

I think Animasia is quite a big company, that's why the way they interviewed me was, what M'sian says, alang-alang only (alang-alang means just for fun). Not only that, the receptionist mistaken my application position for the copy writter position... TWICE <__<'''

Well... I think I can kiss Animasia good bye, I did take a peek at their working studio b4 leaving, it looked like an internet cafe, except they weren't playing games or watching porn, they were hardcore-ing stuffs on Flash.. hahaha, I wonder if that's how Inspidea will be...

Today was an epic day....
It was my first "true" interview for a job.
And the interview went on for.... 3 hours O__O'''''

I can understand why it's 3 hours thou, I had to go through a test that took 1hour, and then the remaining 2 hours were discussion about whether they should hire me or not. It was really interesting actually. They're animation styles are catered towards the American industry, therefore their animations are smooth and exageratingly deformed while their character are more Anthro and cartoon-ish, not towards the anime style.

Through this interview, it made me realize one thing......
Is animation really my cup of tea? Am I really an animator?
I've always dreamed to be an animator, but then by looking at my portfolio, most of my works are illustration :S.... And my style is soo different from what they do....

Even with that Monash best 2D animation awards, it got them thinking "Did you really win the award with this animation?". With a very minimal animation technique and style that is somewhat similar to anime, it got the interviewer, animation leader, and finally the Boss, thinking whether they should hire me or not.... but in the end, after a long 3 hour battle, I got it :)! And they're gonna teach me Toon Boom too ^^!

Anyways.... I realized I haven't posted funny stuffs for a long time... so let me introduce you to a duo who got me cracking so bad lolz. GAMARJOBAT!!!!!!!

Either technology is really a bitch... or I'm getting not used to the amount of things you have to get through just to get something to work...

Today I tried printing something. My house has a really ancient desktop connected to the printer, so I didn't really want to use the old desktop since it's super slow, so I thought of using my laptop.

Until I realized, my printer is ALSO an ancient..... The only latest driver update it has is a driver for windows xp and 2000.... okay, so i though yeah it shud work on my laptop. I downloaded the driver, install, and then it doesn't detect the printer....

I tried using "Add Printer" function but it says my Printer Spooler is not turned on or something...

At the end, I said "Fuck it" And went and use the ancient PC to print instead.....

This whole process took nearly 1.5 hours......

It's worse than drawing 2D animation frames.... cuz errors randomly pops out...

So to those who are thinking about getting any iDevices, please do consider the crapiness of the software that you'll be using to transfer stuffs to your iDevices... may I suggest a simple "Made in China" mp3 player that is just drag and drop :D?

I'm flying in less than 24 hours.
And I gotta say, I'm not ready to go back yet.
Not because I haven't packed yet.
Not because I haven't cleaned the house yet.
And don't even think I'll be missing the dollar (sorry dollar, I have to say "Screw you, I want experience!").

It's because I'll be missing all my friends and relatives.
They are the ones who carried me through tough times, especially since I live alone in a big house with my parents away in Malaysia and Sister in Sydney. I can't imagine life without them.

One of the toughest thing I had to do this week is to hold back tears. Yes, I might not seem like it, but I'm quite emotional too... Behind the thick skin of mine lies a very soft tofu heart >__<'''' so please don't abuse my emotions too much hahahahaha. But yeah, holding back tears, I must thank the drama classes I had in YCIS, they were really good practices for emotional control.

Greetings everyone ^^!
I HAZ JOB! :D WOHOOO
But its back in M'sia... so that means I'll have to move back to Malaysia to work :(.
Leaving all my friends and relatives in Australia... going to miss them so much T_T... but like one of my friend told me," Career comes first before social life". It is true, seeing that I'm going to be working probably in a sweat shop producing frames for cartoons. But oh well, at least I'm doing something and earning monies to slowly repay back my parents (I'll never be able to repay them for what they've done to me, so I'll have to do my best and take good care of them from now till the end).

Yeah.... the company that I got offered to is called Avant Garde Studios. To my knowledge and research, I think this company is kinda new, that's why they were hiring 40 animators for their comapany, motion graphic designers and also 2D Illustrators. They're also currently working on an animation piece called "Ninja-Cat Ichi! Ni! San". Joining venture with a Korean animation company (I think it was called Crazychicken studios). Sounds like a big project seeing that it'll only be released on 2013, but I sure am looking forward in working on this project if I were to be given the chance to do so.

Anyways, the reason for this entry's title is.....
Well, I'm addicted to "A State of Trance" by Armin Van Buuren hahahaha.
Mixing trance tunes from all around the world. And they are all soo good!
None of those cheesy Jap trance anymore, this is the real thing!
But I still love jap trance... hmm... well... more of those tohou music that is.
Yeah, each episode is 2hour long, and I think there's about 500 episodes lolz and still goin!

I think with Armin Van Buuren, it'll just cure my crave for trance everyday :D.
Thanks to Genaza for introducing me to Armin Van Buuren and A State of Trance. wohoooo. I feel like having a house party rave with this music hahahaha. Sadly I don't think any of my friends will like it :(... they might think of it as noise instead of music :P.

2 days ago, I brought my relatives to Ballarat to visit the Goldfields. To me, that place was awesome 11 years ago, cuz u can find gold for sure from the little river where they allow you to look for some :). But now, you have to pay an entrance fee of AUD$41 (for me it's 32.50 cuz I have concession) to enter the fields and the closest you'll ever get to gold is behind glass cabinets.....

Infact, the closest you'll ever get to a gold nugget is.... never..... Whatever gold nugget u see behind these glass cabinets are all replicas..... How lame....

You pay that much, and you don't to touch or hold gold... That's just ridiculous.... And since there were 7 of my cousins going in, with no concession, that place just ripped $315.5 off all of us..... what a load of crap and waste of time....

The only visitors u'll see there are tourists from China and stuffs, hardly any locals will come with that kind of entrance fee... <__<''' Seriously a waste of time and I do not recommend anyone to go to the goldfields for a tour... I'd rather you spend that $41 on some nice meal or something like the zoo or aquarium. LOL

I finally gotz Lappy back :D!
And Mr.Warranty gave it a nice service and new shinny motherboard.
Cuz the older motherboard was kinda iffy, making my wireless and gfx card going nuts.

The service took more than 1+ week. and I must say....
It has been a very fun week, trying to coop with my M'sia's house's old PC.
It's a Pentium 4 running on a 1gb DDR1 ram.

Since I'm used to opening many applications at once while spamming games, working with the old pc is like... a rehab for people without patience. HAHAHAHAHA

I'm now considering on running a "Patience Rehab" center. :)

Lately I've been feeling quite down.
Losing weight, finding a job, and becoming a better person...
It's hectic thinking about working on these 3 goals at the same time.
But I know, thinking and ranting ain't gonna change anything at all. I've gotta do something about it.

My plan for this year, is if I cannot get a job at all, I'll be heading for further studies. And this time, no more Monash. After 4 years of Multimedia and Digital Arts in Monash, I realized one thing..... and that is I've hardly learned anything at all to get me into the industry.

Not to say I haven't gained any skills from Monash. I did. But the skills that I've gained, wasn't ummm.. appropriate... I guess...

I mean... Monash teaches some awesome stuffs. But what they're lacking is specializing in certain areas of Multimedia and Digital Arts. The course Multimedia and Digital Arts is too broad.... you're only learning the shallow areas of the course and not the deeper areas.

But sometimes thinking about it, makes me wonder... have I worked hard enough?
Which I think, I haven't... after practicing drawing since I was young, I still can't draw properly, let alone develop my certain unique style. It's kinda sad, who the hell is going to hire a crappy artist that can't even draw hands. So I've decided to work harder this year, and try to self teach and practice my drawing/painting skills.

On the other hand, I get pressured by my parents to get a job. It's a constant harrassment to hear my mom asking me "Have you received any replies yet?" But I know it's for my own good, I mean, I'm the first child in the family to graduate and is about to depart for the industrial world. And with my current skills and knowledge, I doubt I can get a job. (Monash is a lie?)

But thinking back to what most people told me:

"Getting a first job is the most difficult part of life, after that, with experiences and more skills, getting a job is easy."

It's true, and I'm proving it to you right now :P.

I'm not quite the person who likes to constantly ask and harrass people with questions and favors. But that's one of my biggest weakness in society. If i keep up with this attitude of not being open, I won't be able to get a job. So I guess, this year, I'll have to open up bigger and be brave and bold Lolz.

So sorry for another rant entry. This blog is sort of my ranting area. ^^'' Please forgive me >_<''

I applied for Lucasarts Singapore to be an animator.

Sounds good huh? But wait... there's a catch.
If you've been reading my blog or know me, I'm a 2D animator.

Lucasarts specializes in 3D animations and VFX for films.

I'm applying for a 3D job with my 2D skills....

I seriously do not know how this will go.
It does sound like a good chance that I'll get it.
But if they require an interview, I'm screwed
Not only that, even if I DO get the job... I'm still screwed... I'm gonna be like a feeder in dota or something. Not knowing much about 3D except for basic basic VERY basic character rigging (not even facial yet) and minimal skills on how to fix problem, IK handles bla bla bla.

I kinda hope they hire me.
But reality wise, I kinda hope the games division of the animation section is full so I can have more time to develop my 3D skills.

Speaking of 3D... out of all the job research I did. I think I'll have to move on with 3D animation and leave 2D behind.... I mean. Job wise in reality, 3D is slowly conquering the industry, leaving no room left for 2D animators.

Yes there's Disney and other 2D animation companies. But those are more on the "slavery" side, where you work in Sweatshops making in-between frames..... not even KEYframes...

My dream is to open my own 2D animation studio, create my own works and stuffs.
But I have no idea on how to generate revenues like that.
All that theory classes that I did in Monash were pointless, they don't teach much about the real cakes....
sigh.....

The only slight glimmer of hope that's still left is MadCow Pictures.
They're still making 2D animations, and I read that one of the director used to work with Disney, directing "Jungle Book 2".

Busy Week

For the past week, I've been busy attending weddings.
30th was my cousin's wedding in Sabah, so my family and I flew to Sabah to attend her wedding. Then there's another one on the 1st of January, and this time it's in KL, so we immediately rushed back after our cousin's wedding in Sabah.

Funny thing is, today I thought I won't be attending any more wedding ceremonies (i.e big feasty dinner banquet), but when it came to dinner time, the restaurant that we wanted to go to was full and the only tables left were the empty ones in the wedding banquet rooms, and coincidentally, there were 3 other wedding dinners going on in that restaurant. So you know where this is going? That's right, we sat in one of those banquet room, with free wedding entertainment (i.e the cake cutting ceremony, singing, champagne opening etc.)

Please forgive me if I'm confusing you guys, reading back what I wrote, it seems to not make any sense at all.... ahahahaha ^^''' I'm always poor at explaining things :(.... oh well. Just know this, today is the third night that I'm having my dinner in a wedding ceremony LOL. :D There, I said it.

If tmrw's dinner is in another wedding ceremony, I'm so gonna buy a lottery ticket xD.

Garlic

3 days ago, I helped my mom chop garlic into very tiny pieces.
She wanted to use it for her chicken rice, but I was chopping it really slowly, so in the end we didn't use the garlic at all.

One thing you should know about garlic is that, the smell will stain your hand for days no matter how many times you wash your hands (unless it's like some odour killing soap). But meh, I don't mind. Infact, I love garlic hehehe :).

The garlic stain on my hand smelt like garlic on the day I chopped garlic. As days pass by, the smell evolves into something else, yesterday it smelt like some sort of bread/pizza. Today it smells like KFC. I wonder what will it smell like tmrw LOL!

Back in Malaysia

It's good to be back again :). Especially with my parents.
The whole Family is here xD. And now it definitly feels like I'm home.

Although it's kinda fun to live alone in Australia, I kinda miss the homey feeling with my parents and sis. The interaction and communication. hehe ^^''

Other than that, my mom got a new piano too, a digital piano. And you know what that means :P? Yes, non stop spamming on the keys xDDD. At the moment I'm trying to learn Utada Hikaru's First Love song... it's hard cuz the piano version has a few weird notes in it, I kinda like playing songs that goes with the beat. Hopefully I'll be able to learn it before I leave M'sia :).

Traffic is horrible in M'sia as usual, got stuck in a jam hahahaha. But mom decided to take a "short-cut". "Short-cuts" in M'sia are usually risky routes, as in accidents are frequent there, but we had to take it or we'd be enjoying eating 2 hours of nothing. and My dad didn't have the keys to the house too, so he'd be eating 2 blank hours as well :).

Hmm.... Alvin is in M'sia, but he's going to Singapore next week, hopefully I can meet up with him ^^!

Clarence and Hing, I wonder if they'll have time to come out and play... or will I have time? Cuz I'm going to KK on the 29th till the 1st for my cousin's wedding....

I saw old pictures of myself at home, I look soo much thinner and healthier compare to my current state .___.''' sadface... I wanna be like my oldself T___T!

Old Friend

Today we managed to catch up with an old friend of ours back in the Highschool days. It has been 6 years since I last saw Rie, and the only thing that has changed is that she's more mature now, other than that, her happy cheerful personality is still as bright as the sun xD! I'm soo glad to catch up with her again.

She brought us around Shinjuku, and had dinner in an awesome Tonkatsu restaurant. The tonkatsu in Japan is soooo... effing... DELICIOUS! Unliek the soggy ones in Melb, these ones are just sooo good TwT! Crispy, juicy, with rice and miso soup! OH and the tonkatsu sauce too! omgggg D:.... Gotta have it again b4 I leave!!!!

Then we roamed around in search for dessert! It was funny how we couldn't decide which dessert house to go, so to aid our craving, we decided to have 2 sessions of dessert, one at a japanese dessert house, the other in a waffle house! hahahaha. And as usual, delicious shietss!!

Oh, and today I finally got a hold of Ramens. hahahahaha, all these time I've been eating rice dishes only, and today, the Ramen is sooo good! Char siew Ra men. I'd so go for seconds, but I couldn't, so instead I went for the terriyaki meat rice, smaller but dang it's yumm too! Winston had 2 bowls of Ramen, that monster HAHAHAHAHA! Makes me wonder what happened to my appetite?..... meh

We also visted the Pokemon Center in Tokyo. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be... but it's really nice to be in there hahahaha. Even the store music was the Poke Center Background music. Lalalalalalala~

The term "Bali Moment" refers to the Bali Trip that I had during the beginning of this year. If you can be bothered reading the first post about my Bali Trip, then please do so :). If not, then here's a word that'll sum up everything for ya:

So I went to the pharmacy to ask if they have any ENOs or drugs equivalent to the effects of ENOs. The pharmacist showed me a bunch of stuffs which all had like 20+ packs and costed more than 1500 yen. I told em I just needed one, but they do not sell individual packages. Instead of making me buy one whole box, the pharmacist went to the storage room and grabbed me a few sample packs, which has 2 packets on it. Not only that, he gave it to me for FREE!

T_T!!! They're soo nice........

Oh well, let's hope I don't wake up with a "Bali Moment" again tmrw.....
Today we also explored Nipponbashi, the "Electric Town" of Osaka with all it's Otaku and Geek goodness. I swear everytime I came out of a shop, I have this relief feeling of not buying anything cuz I fear my sub conscious will make me buy figurines <_<''''... geh....being a figurine collector is dangerous....

Since our Sapporo trip has been cancelled due to a huge conflict with the transportations, we've decided to spend our last few days in Osaka and Tokyo.

Today we visited Namba city in Osaka.
We heard that it's some sorta of an "electric city". So we were thinking like it's gonna be sorta the same as Akihabara without the anime stuffs....

But we were wrong... It was more like a Shibuya with longer and more stuffs to look at.... Clothings and food... nothing geeky <__<'''

We walked for hours trying to look for something electronic, but yeah, we found nothing and came back to our hostel with sore feet....

Oh speaking of Hostel, we've moved from our old hostel that we used to live in during our first visit to Osaka. Now we're living in some "hotel-like" hostel, it's not single private rooms, but everything in here seems fancy :). The price is pretty good too, we somehow manage to catch some sort of a special offer when we booked it, and we had a discount. So yeah, awesome :D! fufufufufu. But I miss my old hostel :(... the staff there were uber friendly and it's sooooo convenient around there (the one I'm living in right now is like 20 mins away from Osaka compare to the older one which is a stone's throw away!)

Tomorrow it's back to Kyoto again for some "OMIYAGE". Omiyage means "souveniers". Oh and some last sight seeing in Kyoto that we've missed out.

Travelling with Good Friends

We've arrived at Fukuoka today. But by the time we got to the hostel, we were all soaked and drenched by the stupid Japanese rain lolz. And with a hole in BOTH my shoes... it felt like wearing a sponge instead of a shoe.... yeah... hopefully my shoe dries up by tmrw... I didn't dare use the laundry drier to dry it cuz I'm afraid the soles might melt.

Anyways, I think this is the 12th day in Japan, and I must say, as the days goes by, the trip that I wish would never end slowly became a trip that I wish it would end as soon as possible. Cuz when seeing friends every single day and having to make decisions that might cause opinion clashes, you get to discover the darker sides of your friends. By darker, I mean "true" sides. ahahaha.....

Yeah, we were all joyful and laughing with awesomeness during the first few days, but slowly and slowly, we began arguing about what to do and where to go. Most of the time, I just go with the flow cuz I don't like arguing with others. Except for today where I said "fck you guys, Imma take the tram cuz it's faster and saves time instead of walking and missing the train". Yeah....

One of the biggest problem we had with our trip was the "Twilight Express" problem. We were meant to take the twilight express up to Sapporo, it's like the european's Oriental Express, but Japanese :). Sadly, we didn't get to book it, and we were arguing about how we should get there and stuffs.... In the end, we decided to book more days in Osaka and Tokyo and skip Sapporo, so a Japan trip that I thought we could cover Top to bottom became only the bottom parts of Japan.... but I'm really glad that this problem is over, cuz it really created many many arguments that went on for days and days. Making everyone not enjoying their holiday at all, and having a grumpy angry face on them 24/7.

Especially a good friend of mine who i thought was a cheerful and happy all the time, but with the problems in his head, he seems to be cluttered by anger. Even his face changed from happy face to sad face... I was scared to even start a conversation with him hahahaha.... But with this problem all gone, I hope that everything will be happy from now on.

Although it's been quite a rough ride through this Japan trip, it really taught me a lot about my friends. So for those of you travelling with good friends, my advise is make sure you plan well and CONFIRM your journeys with a 101%! Oh and of course, keep the smile up and frowns away while travelling to make it a joyful journey :)!

Osaka 1st Night.

Yesterday we arrived Osaka.
I must say, Osaka seems like a very nice place to live in.
While Tokyo is where all the shopping and shiet happens.
And Yokohama is.... cool.... hahahaha....

But yea, Osaka, awesome place. I'm still yet to try out their proper awesome food cuz we had a bit of a trouble with our vegan friends hahahaha... shhhhhh....

Night time was hectic thou, after going to a local Izakaya, we went straight to a bar and we uhh.. managed to speak to a local person there hahaha. He wanted to speak english, so we spoke to him a lot. After 5 days in Japan and some alcohol, our confidence for speaking with the locals have increased a lot. It feels more, easier, like, comfortable to speak with them.

Unlike our 1st day, we were struggling. hahahaha.
But we're still yet to learn more about the wonderful culture of this beautiful country.

Today is break day, Mick and Genaza went to Koyasan, a forest that is 2 hours away from Osaka. While me and winston ish just be chillin at osaka hahahaha. Doin our laundry and eating "proper" food. by proper I mean... MEAT! We kinda needed that break cuz yesterday, we walked all the way from Osaka back to our dorm, which is like a 30 min walk I think... very far and tiring, especially after a long long day of standing and walking. hahaha

Okies... I'll upload some pix later.. cuz there's a USB port on this PC... but my cable is upstairs ^^''... too lazy to leave the PC now X_x'''

Yokohama

Today we visited Yokohama.
There's wasn't much to do except for looking at awesome shopping centers and buildings. But later at night, we're gonna go explore Red Brick Warehouse. A live band bar. I heard it's gonna be awesome. And Seuneo Hair is gonna be there too. His songs are awesome.

Oh and today we went to China town at Yokohama too.
We ate at a chinese restaurant, and the food there was great!
The owner of the store is a Taiwanese and it felt nice speaking with him in Mandarine, it felt like a checkpoint in a game. Cuz of the "lost-in-language" status hahahaha. Anyways will update later. I'm sorry for no photos :(.... the PC that I'm using atm doesn't have USB ports, and they take 100yen for 30min of internet. oh well....

We went to Red Brick Warehouse (Akai Renga). It was really really pretty inside, and there were heaps of awesome stuffs for sale too. We might come back to yokohama during our last few days in Japan to buy some souveniers. But sadly we didnt attend any of the bands cuz we didn't know what or how to get in and yeah.... with the lack of confidence to try and ask for information from the locals, we backed out and was punished by rain <_<... now my 3rd socks is wet and smelly... Oh well, let's hope tmrw at Osaka, I get to do laundry :P.

I'm sad that my shoe has a leak in it.... I shud've worn my new shoes to Japan...

Today we went to Shibuya. And we saw the famous Shibuya crossing, and many many other cool stuffs!!!! I bought a bag too and it costed 3000 yen only. Cheap!! It's soooo awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I must say.... although I still haven't fixed the dB issue in my video (some sounds are louder than it should be). I'm very proud of what I've created....

1 year's worth of effort, with all the QQ and shiet.
It all mashed out into something that I've finally accepted to be worthy to be put into my portfolio.

For the past 4 years, all the work that I've done for every subject I took, was quite a diasppointment. I wasn't proud with any one of em, neither was I brave enough to put them into my portfolio knowing that they are unacceptable.... that's in my opinion of course....

Okay, i swear, this is the last QQ I'll ever make about my Honors course.

I've been thinking... Honors is about working on a project of your desire...
I've always wanted to do animation, so I decided to create an animation piece with Honors.

So one would think "Hey, it's something that you like doing, you're going to enjoy making it with no hassle" right?.... To me that seems wrong... it's not something I enjoy doing now... infact... it feels like a burden, a wrong choice, a mistake, a troublesome act to make my animation... I wonder... why is that? It's like, instead of holding hands together with your project to cross the road, you're being tied to a leash and your project is the whip carrier, enslaving you and shit....

I wonder if it's cuz of the tedious amount of work?
Or because of the fact that I have no guidance or whatsoever into tackling my project....

Would I blame it on my tutors for the lack of motivation and support that they show us? Or would I blame myself for the lack of motivation towards my work.... who is to blame? whooo???

I seriously do not know... and I wish I could find an answer to that... as I feel sorry for ranting and ploughing about how bad my honors course is, and some people from the past year might disagree as they enjoyed theirs very much....

I know... there's just 1 more week to go. And I just gotta hang in there.
I really REALLY wished I didn't take honors... it's fcking me up real bad and I don't see much benefits from it after it's done.... Whatever I'm doing at the moment, I could just learn while working, especially when studios teach you the 'proper' way of doing things.

Just then, I was creating a scene for my animation, and the software + dimensions and shit was just fcking around with me, and I felt very nauseas and dizzy.... This is how bad my project is affecting me. I think my health condition is horrible too, sleeping very late night, and one of my aunty said sleeping late is bad for the liver, cuz you're not letting it rest. And now... I suspect I'm down with a gout... (my left foot hurts). Let's hope it's not gout and just sore muscle cuz I lift weights with my feet HAHAHAHA!

Anyways. To those of you who is thinking about doing Honors. Take this advice:
Unless you're committed to working on ONE project for an entire year without gaining additional skills, this course is for you. If you're seeking additional skills from it, I suggest you start working instead. After speaking with Shane, he seems to be enjoying studio work at Cam's. And he'd rather dump his Honors project and work with Cam cuz it's "fun".

Fun as in, he's animating stuffs at the moment so he gets to learn new stuffs while working and earning mulah.

This is just based off my opinion. I'm not saying "Don't take Honors" at all, just simply giving an opinion. The choice of honors is completely up to you! To those who think I'm wrong and Honors is fun, remember, this is just based off my experience. Maybe Honors in other institutes are better, maybe the honors that YOU took is more fun and challenging....But I really think it's not worth pooping away money on something you could've done by yourself in your own time (that's basically what Honors is for me, you're working on a a self-initated project for an entire year).

Anyways... There's just 1 week to go. Sadly, there's really no turning back now (I've lost count on how many times I've said this), I just gotta stop QQ-ing and more pew pew-ing. Either do or die, fuck or be fucked. and I'll be damn if Imma do masters.....

I wonder if he ever thought about the consequences if he were to say this out loud, especially for a politician... and I swear... I'm soo gonna kick his fcken ass if I ever see him in person. Well I have to.... or my parents will never forgive me... neither would I forgive myself. lololz.... Anyways, just a quick update on how are things going.

Honors is going fine... I guess... except for that exegesis that I have to make for it... if it wasn't for that, I'd say my honors is going excellent. But anyways... hopefully I can punch out text and kick out images/design for it within 4 days.

As a designer, I have this thing called "Perfectionist". Where I would look at my work, think about how crap it is and wanting to make it even moar better, even thou I do not know how, and thus I dream about making it better all day, that I eventually lose hours of work time QQ-ing to myself about it. Hahahaha, lame isn't it? But one thing Honors have taught me, is to nto be a perfectionist, it's kinda like Starcraft 2, I think it was Huski that sed it, "Just fucking attack". The more you stall, the stronger your enemy will be. And like my sister used to say too, can't remember what it was exactly, but it's something about "Just fucking do it" hahahaha.

I guess honors did teach me something useful after all... Hmm? What about Professional Practice/Theory/Electronic Design? Oh right, Electronic Design was cool! But the other 2 was just a waste of time... <__<'' Kinda wished they put Professional Practice in 3rd year and dump Theory away. Anyways....

Yeah... there's just 2 more weeks left till the end of Honors. yay. Then 1 week to set up exhibition/fix up final work. 1 week of looking after the exhibition, and off to Japan I go! Visa is also done too :D! Which is a thumbs up ^^! hehe.
